Liebscher worked for many years in as projectionist in cinemas. Handlung the analogue material he collected images that are used for colour grading. Often were faces included to get the skintone right, mostly of women. The position of these strange portraits in the material is just a moment before being projected and being famous. 

They are known as „China Girls“.
